Wedding flowers for Mellon’s Bay Beach, East Auckland wedding.
I love the shades of blue in these wedding flowers for a November wedding held on Mellon’s Bay, East Auckland.
The bride chose an ocean inspired colour palette of blue, green and white shades.
My Approach was to take her mood boards and ideas and custom design a collection of beautiful wedding flowers with stunning white Peonies, Roses, Sweetpeas and Freesias with blue cornflowers and delphiniums.
Her bridal bouquet had a mix of white, ivory and pale blue flowers while her bridesmaid’s bouquets had white and dark blue flowers with touches of green Viburnum Snowball.
All the bouquets were handtied and the stems were wrapped in pale blue satin ribbon with shades of blue trailing satin ribbons.

Tips for Choosing Beach Wedding Flowers
Wedding Flower Selection
Depending on the time of year, it is important to select the flowers that will stay fresh throughout the ceremony and reception. Direct sunlight and summer heat can cause your flowers to wilt easily.
The best suited blooms for a summer beach wedding are orchids, chrysanthemums, Calla lilies, hydrangeas and Oriental lilies. Native South African and Australian flowers and foliage like Proteas, Pincushions, Leucodendrons and Banksia are currently trendy and are heat and sun resistant.
For an exotic island feel, add plenty of lush tropical foliage like Monstera and palm leaves with colourful tropical flowers such as Anthuriums, Birds of Paradise (Strelitzia), orchids and Heliconia (Lobster Claw). These withstand heat, sun and wind and are ideal for beach settings.
If your beach wedding is in spring or autumn, you can use most flower varieties.
Add a few beach themed accents like seashells, sea urchins, starfish and pearls to your flower bouquets and table centerpieces.
The beach provides the perfect background , so keep the decor simple and add touches of colour to contrast the natural surroundings.
Flower Preparation and Maintenance
A floral hydration protective spray is applied to all wedding florals to maximize their freshness.
I recommend that you have the flowers delivered on the day of the wedding .
Place the bouquets in water in a cool area to keep the flowers fresh and hydrated .
Recycle Your Flowers
Have some of your ceremony arrangements moved to the reception area.
Place the bridesmaids bouquets in pretty vases or mason jars on the wedding table.
