Amy and Adam’s wedding flowers for a garden wedding in Whitford, East Auckland.
Amy’s mother Felicity contacted me to help with organizing Amy and Adams’s wedding flowers for a summer wedding on 10 February 2018.
The wedding venue was the family home set in beautiful park like gardens with breathtaking sea views.
Amy and Adam were living overseas and only due to arrive a week before the wedding day.
Amy loved a natural “garden picked” style for her bridal bouquet and chose a hot bright colour palette of orange, pinks, purples and blue.
My Approach was to take her ideas and custom design a collection of beautiful wedding flowers with lots of trailing grey eucalyptus foliage, stunning brightly coloured roses, lisianthus and dahlias with masses of foraged garden foliage to add that garden feel and texture.
Keeping with the garden theme and the fact that the groom and his family were Scottish, all the bouquets and buttonholes included blue thistles also known as Sea Holly.
Her bridal bouquet had a mix of hot pink and purple flowers with masses of trailing foliage and hanging amaranthus and the wildness of the bouquet complemented her simple gold sheath wedding dress. Amy also chose to wear a asymmetrical flower crown , created using bright flowers and foliage to match her bouquet.
The bridesmaids bouquets included shades of burnt orange, pinks and purples with trailing foliage.
The couple’s young daughter wore a pretty flower crown and carried a flower wand with trailing ribbons.
As heavy rain was forecast for the wedding date, the family constructed a waterproof covering for the outside courtyard to create a lovely area for the reception. An awesome teepee tent was erected to use for the ceremony and I designed a 5m long garland of foliage to hang inside the teepee.
To add colour to the courtyard area, I designed two large flower arrangements in beautiful urns provided by Felicity.
Even with the rain causing a few issues, the couple enjoyed a special day celebrating with their friends and family.
“Thank you so much for everything that you did for us. ALL the flowers got rave reviews and I have already had people asking about you and have dished out a few of your cards. Thanks again for helping to make the Big Day so special.”
