Be sure to bring along the following to your wedding consultation appointment:
Inspirational photographs
Everyone loves Pinterest! It’s helpful for me to see a few examples of bouquets, centrepieces and flowers that you like to get feel for the style and overall look you are going for.
Photos of your wedding dress and the bridesmaids’ dresses are helpful for choosing what style of wedding bouquet will best suit your dress silhouette.
A modern A-line gown is best paired with a minimalist single-flower sheath bouquet and a cascading bouquet will compliment the long flowing lines of a sheath or mermaid style wedding gown.
Colour palette and style ideas
Choosing your colours is a huge part of the planning process. There are so many ideas and mood boards of colour themes on Pinterest to choose from.
The venue setting, season and the colour of the bridesmaids’ dresses will all greatly influence the colours chosen for the wedding flowers.
I recommend choosing two major colours and using one or two complimentary tones to add touches of colour and interest.
Wedding venue details
Details of the main areas where the flowers will be located for the ceremony and reception are helpful.
Popular features include a flower arch, church pew flowers, petals down the aisle or large urns of flowers.
I like to view the venue beforehand, if possible, and take measurements to help me design the flowers to suit the venue setting.
Examples of table decor
Please bring along any special containers/table decor, ribbons or fabric that you would like me to work with for your wedding flowers.
Any special sentimental items that you would like incorporated onto your bouquet are most welcome.
Flower preferences
Having an idea of what flowers you do and don’t want will enable me to choose the best blooms to achieve your wedding vision.
If you or your bridal party have any allergies to certain flowers or their scent, I will need to know that information too.
Please feel free to browse through the Wedding Flower Inspiration gallery to view recent weddings.
These starting points will help you get the most out of your wedding flower consultation.
“It was an amazing pleasure to work with Sandra at Harbour Rose Florist. She made the whole experience a smooth one. Her expertise and knowledge was really great for someone that knows very little about flowers. I could not recommend a better florist for the big day!“
